Biography - Christian Kane
Christian Kane was born in Dallas, Texas. Christian's family moved around a bit before settling in the small town of Norman, Oklahoma - where he later attended college at the University of Oklahoma. Throughout college, Christian performed at various clubs with his cousin, Branden Hart. Eventually the dream of a career in the entertainment business grew too strong and Christian set off for Los Angeles.
Once in Hollywood, Christian landed a job as an assistant at a Production/ Management company. His connections there led to his first big job acting and singing as the lead in MGM's television series "FAME L.A.". The show, based on the hit movie and the original 1980's television series, cast Christian as Ryan Legget. The original role was for a comedian but after hearing Christian sing, they rewrote the role for him to be a singer in pursuit of "fame". One thing led to another and Christian was soon a musical and theatrical double threat.Around that time Christian met his songwriting partner and band mate, Steve Carlson. Together they founded L.A.’s hottest country music band, KANE. Packing such well-known hot spots as The Viper Room and The Mint, Christian and Steve are well known in the L.A. community for their strong original songwriting and awesome high-energy performance on stage. Chris' unique vocals distinguish KANE from other current country/rock bands. As a frontman, his stage presence and his ability to the hold the audience in the palm of his hand is one of the keys to his success.
Since forming the band, Christian has had success not only with KANE, but with numerous film and television roles as well. Christian will soon be seen in the TNT miniseries INTO THE WEST which is executive produced by Steven Spielberg. He also will co-star in the Jerry Bruckheimer produced weekly drama series CLOSE TO HOME which will debut Fall 2005 on CBS. In CLOSE TO HOME, Christian plays a country music performer. Kane’s most recent appearances on the big screen are in Fox's film TAXI opposite Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon and the Peter Berg directed FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. He was also seen in Fox's JUST MARRIED (which opened at #1 and went on to gross almost $60 million dollars at the box office and is a big rental hit) where he starred with Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy and on television as the lead in “The Crooked E” for CBS. Kane’s other work includes the Fox feature film LIFE OR SOMETHING LIKE IT opposite Angelina Jolie for director Stephen Herek, SECONDHAND LIONS for writer/director Tim McCanlies where he played a young Robert Duvall, the indie feature KEEP YOUR DISTANCE and the Warner Bros. baseball film SUMMER CATCH.
On television, Christian starred as "Lindsey McDonald" in a recurring role on the WB television series ANGEL. His other film and TV credits include the films CROSSFIRE TRAIL (with Tom Selleck) and EDTV, DAWSON'S CREEK, the independent film BROKEN HEARTS CLUB and the MTV Original film entitled LOVE SONG. In LOVE SONG he played a blues guitarist/ singer opposite co-star Monica.
The only question remaining for Christian Kane is which career will launch him to superstardom first. Whichever it is, his passion for both will ensure that the other is not far behind.
